one microsoft, one design?

Given the recent announcement of the big Microsoft reorganization, it’s worth a look at some recent articles describing the evolving Microsoft design principles and aesthetic.

An article on Gizmodo actually addresses the “cool” factor in the company’s design efforts and references an article by Steve Clayton, editor of Microsoft’s Next blog entitled “Modern design at Microsoft: Going beyond flat design.”

Clayton’s article is worth a read to understand how the Design Leadership at Microsoft is thinking about design today and moving forward with what’s next.

As the reorg dust settles, becoming one Microsoft has never been more closely linked to successfully executing a unified design across the divisions. After all their years in business, this move finally puts design front and center in achieving internal goals and reaching external customers. Stay tuned.
