Paper FiftyThree recently won the Best in Category Award for “Expressing”. “Paper” is a simple and beautiful app for the iPad. It allows you to express ideas as sketches, diagrams, illustrations, notes or drawings and instantly share them across the web.
They were one of 25 global winners in the second-annual Interaction Awards competition. The finalists were selected from hundreds of entries from 27 countries and recognized for their excellence in interaction design. The top projects were selected by an international panel of jurors, evaluated for context, impact, craft and overall presentation. Read more about the IxDA awards.
Here’s how the team from Paper Fifty-three describes the reason and inspiration for their winning project:
Ideas begin on Paper.
Our lives have become driven more and more by empty patterns of consumption. At a time when we face so many real challenges, we find ourselves using the most powerful technology in our history to slingshot birds and update our status.
Yet we all know our most rewarding moments are those we create for ourselves. As people, we have a need to create. It’s our calling to invent, discover, and do our best to leave this place a little better than when we arrived. We have an innate need for creativity.
To be human is to create. For the makers, the creators, the discoverers, the original thinkers.
